Why Adam, not Eve as the orig. sinner ?
Why Adam, not Eve as the orig. sinner ?
I have another thing I am pondering.
Why in Genesis do we hear Eve was the first to be bequiled by Satans twist on Gods word and bite the apple which opened her to the knowledge of the difference between good and evil. But in scripture after scripture though out the rest of the bible, the written word refers to "Adam" being the man who brought sin into the world not the woman?
It also breaks it down as simple as one man brought sin into the world and one man (Christ) brought us redemption from it.
Why is this put on Adam as "the one" and not Eve? I would think if the written word just was reffering to mankind it would be more specific but the written word uses the name Adam specifically or He.
What do you think?

I think the answer lies in the fact that Adam was right there with her during the whole thing.
Gen 3:6 "...she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband WITH HER; and he did eat."
I believe that Adam was just as much tempted as Eve was. But notice that Satan attacked Eve first, "The weaker vessel" as Peter puts it. Adam gave in to the temptation, instead of putting a stop to the whole ordeal by sticking with what God said.
Paul says in 1Ti 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 1Ti 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. "
At first glance, this verse looks contradictory, because we know that Adam BECAME decieved. But he was not the FIRST to be decieved. Adam was "first" formed, Eve was "first " decieved.
I believe that if Satan would have came to Adam first, if "may" have went differently. Or may not, I suppose we will never know.

Hi Brody
I know Adam was there with her etc. and that Adam was created first BUT even though he was also tempted SHE took "action" in her temption first.
Though we are all tempted with various sins isn't it at the point we take action of some kind that we actually enter into the sin and then are held accountable for it?
Yet the bible through out refers to Adam bringing sin into the world not Eve. As I had written earlier where scripture even compares how Christ ( one man) redeemed the sin of the world, that came though one man (Adam) who brought it to the whole world. I still don't get it why Adam is held responsible for the first sin when in actual "action" Eve did it first, even though both did sin And your scripture seems to me to support further what I am mixed up about.
EVE was the first decieved AND sinned first in it, not Adam.
Paul says in 1Ti 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 1Ti 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. "
.HMMMMMM Maybe one of the questions we won't really get answered until meeting our maker face to face ????. Thanks for you words though.....Glow

I like that definition Paidion. Never thought of it in that way. Another way someone put it to me was that Adam was responsible for Eve just like a husband is reponsible for the actions of his wife and family.Paidion wrote:For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Hi everyone
I am NOT saying Adam didnt sin or was not decvieved. I am saying in "action" Eve fell into the sin "first " and Adam followed. So why is Adam held accounatble for it in scripture as bringing sin in to the world personally not Eve. I don't mean to offend any one here but I still don't think anyone has addressed that part of my question.I am NOT denying that Adam sinned.
Closest thing is Adam being head of the "family" should have covered Eve, not let her take the sinful"action" and than certainly not followed her but stood strong in "not" following.
That is the only thing I see as making sense here. Thanks Glow

Hi Glow,
I think thats it... all throughout the Bible Adam is spoken of as being responsible for sin coming into the world, because in God's eyes, He was responsible.
The relationship to this scriptural idea and husband/wife role/responsibilities as outlined in the Bible seems very close. It is actually one major reason that I think the Biblical roles are for today and cannot be explained away.
I'm probably not saying this very well. Sorry.

Hi Les
No need to be sorry at all. I have a few folks that are sold on Eve being the one who brought sin into the world so much though they think (men) have to be xtra careful in listening to any spiritual info that comes through women they know INCLUDING Christian woman because Adam was decieved by "her". True???
But I wanted to give them a chance to see if they were right? I know woman can be the weaker sex and I think woman may be a little more spiritually intuned more,( my experience anyway) but with that I also think they can possily be decieved in it easier also( my experince again). A fine line when testing the spirits!
After all, us women here are related to "eve" as our sister! But thanks for you feedback...Glow

Glow,
Something else that may help, is the fact that Adam was commanded to stay away from the tree specifically by God before he created Eve. Not sure if that helps or makes any difference at all.
