You mean kissing is not how babies are concieved? And here I've been believing that for all of these years. Thanks for setting me straight Matt.
Mama Mia, this explains a lot.
"Destroy this temple and i'll raise it in three days" They did'nt have a clue, but they knew Jesus was the Christ but like ALL the jews they did'nt know what Christ meant because they never really understood the nature of sin in God's eyes. It was'nt their fault because neither did their religious leaders. And even to this day the veil has'nt been lifted.

The fact that the disciples didn't know that Jesus was going to die for their benefit, doesn't imply that they "never really understood the nature of sin in God's eyes"."Destroy this temple and i'll raise it in three days" They did'nt have a clue, but they knew Jesus was the Christ but like ALL the jews they did'nt know what Christ meant because they never really understood the nature of sin in God's eyes.
Jesus explained the nature of sin pretty well in Matthew 5, 6, and 7.
Besides that, He gave the requirements of dealing with sin:
"Unless you repent you will all likewise perish".
Jesus taught that one had to die to self (that is, to sin), and submit to his authority.
If any one comes to me and does not discount his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26, 27
So therefore, whoever of you does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:33
There was a real double-header in the following teaching:
Jesus responded to them, "The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it, and he who discounts his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." John 12:23-25
The grain of wheat that falls into the earth and dies, thus bearing much fruit, represents both:
1. The death of Christ on our behalf. "The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified."
2. The death of His disciples to their own self-life, resulting in much fruit to the glory of Christ.
Yes, Jesus taught a lot about dealing with self and sin during the period of 3 years which He spent instructing His disciples. I don't think they missed it all! (Except, perhaps Judas)

Good points Paidion! They heard all right but when it really mattered did they believe what they heard? Who was at the cross?
