Types and Antitypes

Post by _Anonymous » Mon Feb 27, 2006 10:38 am

If a type from the Old Testament has been fullfilled by the antitype in the New Testament, is there any reason that the type is needed any more?

I'm asking because I heard a Calvary Chapel preacher say that the sacrifices in the Temple were going to be reinstituted as a memorial of Christ's sacrifice, like communion is now, in the millennium. Does that even make sense?

No, it doesn't make sense.

It appears that even the communion will no longer be necessary then.

Paul wrote:

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. (I Corinthians 11:26)

So why would sacrifices be needed to remember Him, when He will be right there in front of us?

Hi Michelle,

Don't futurists who are dispensational say that because Hebrews clearly says the ol sacrifices didn't take away sin to begin with. Since, they think the sacrifices will be revived, they have to have some kind of explanation for them, albeit construed.

At least, thats my opinion.
