Re: Availability of 30-min broadcasts?
Does anyone know of a good, free WAV to mp3 converter program out there that's not full of spyware, etc? I started recording Steve's early show but I can only record in the WAV file format so I'd like to be able to convert them to mp3. What's maddening is that I can burn the program to CD and then rip the program back from the CD to mp3 but I can't figure out how to just convert the WAV files to mp3's.

I use a program called "Switch." I don't remember if it was free. If not, it must have been inexpensive...'cause I have it.

Audacity will do that and just about anything else you want to do to audio files. You can set up scripts to automate repetitive tasks.

Yes, audacity works well -- it's even available on most platforms including Windoze and Macintosh.
But, I just completely forgot perhaps the most obvious -- iTunes will do it too.
Also, in case you weren't aware, they are already in mp3 format on http://tnp.theeggbeater.net (when they're there).

Thanks for all the help guys.
Also, I have not been able to get iTunes to convert wav files into mp3's unless I'm ripping them from a CD. I'll take another look at iTunes and see if can figure it out.
I did know that theeggbeater's files available for download are mp3's but I was looking to record the live stream from Steve's early show myself. The problem is my old computer I have set up (a windows based PC) will not record mp3 files using the software I have.darinhouston wrote: But, I just completely forgot perhaps the most obvious -- iTunes will do it too.

If you can get them into iTunes as wavs in the first place (just drag them into the iTunes window for a first try or menu item "File:Add To iTunes", then select one or more and then go to the menu called "Advanced" and select the "Create MP3 Version" menu item.

Well now I've got a Mac. It looks like audacity will work but before I install it is there anything that may have come with my imac that would record streaming audio as well?
