Elder Qualifications

Post by _postpre » Thu Apr 10, 2008 7:59 pm

I'd like a perspective on the following verse that speaks of the qualifications of a bishop/elder.

NKJ 1 Timothy 3:4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence

Is a man qualified to be an elder if he has a wayward child (who is out of high school and out on their own)?

Can a man still be an elder if he has a child in his home who is unruly and disobedient? Should we cut some slack if the child is stil 2-4 years old?

Thanks.

Brian

i would answer "yes" to #1 and "no" to#2 (unless the child is in his "terrible twos").
