I don't have a problem taking a second look either. I'm not 100 percent convinced of the young earth view myself.
Then there is hope for you yet. LOL It is the people that are 100% sure and dogmatic about every little thing that has me concerned. Hard to learn something if we already think we have all the answers. I think we should all be open to the concept that we just may be surprised about some of the things we learn when all is known.
It's hard to spend an afternoon with you and not come away somewhat agnostic on this issue! I came to your home a staunch YEC and left less convinced to say the least. We should do it again sometime.

You wrote
However, Exodus 20 is God speaking

Isa 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me,
Isa 45:6 that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.

Just to clarify, when you said "God speaking", did you mean in the context of giving a command? If so, then you are correct. Otherwise, Isaiah 45 is one example of God using the phrase "rising of the sun"...there are others as well.

It's times like these I wish we were talking in the same room so we could quickly understand each other. :)
This, like the vast majority of the prophetic writings is poetry. It should be interpreted differently than historical narrative, in my opinion. It's a way of saying "all over the world".

Virtually everyone" are pagans, and evolutionists too, and bring those presuppositions to their research. Where do we draw the line at when we agree with them? If your answer is "when the bible contradicts them", then you got some 'splainin to do, because the bible really doesn't support the OEC position

The two guys who influenced me in this are neither pagans or evolutionists and started out as YECs therefore they did'nt have presuppositions except to believe the bible.
Yes we draw the line "when it contradicts the bible" like God made each kind after it's own kind thereby precluding macro-evolution. But although YECs often claim that OE concede ground to evolutionists the fact is that they really don't. The reason is that almost everything died off and life was renewed in the Cambrian explosion 500 mill yrs ago when fossils appeared virtually from nowhere. As any honest evolutionist will admit 500 mill yrs it not nearly enough time for macro-evolution which takes billions of years. So ironically the fossil record is supporting a Creator and forcing evolutionists to come up with more and more crazy theories. So the natural evidence is beginning to meld with the supernatural evidence which ultimately is what will happen.

Sure. The place is a disaster right now, but when school starts it is going to be real quiet around here.
