Why didn't Jesus write anything?

Here is a question that my unbelieving friend sent me, and I'm not sure how to answer it.
Can someone please help.

DOESN'T'T IT SEEM STRANGE THAT JESUS DIDN'T WRITE ANYTHING? OR THAT IF HE
JUST LEFT IT UP TO HIS DISCIPLES TO WRITE HIS TEACHINGS, THAT HE DIDN'T
PROOF ANY OF IT? JUST A THOUGHT. WASN'T JESUS CONTINUALLY CHASTISING HIS
DISCIPLES FOR NOT GETTING HIS POINT CORRECTLY, AND WE SHOULD ASSUME THAT
THEY GOT IT RIGHT AFTER HIS DEATH? DO I HAVE THAT RIGHT? STILL HAVEN'T READ
IT YET. SO I LEAVE IT TO YOU.

Just a couple of quick thoughts that may help.

I don’t find it strange that Jesus didn’t write anything (at least nothing we know about). The pattern from the beginning has been for God to work through people to create a written record. Why should he change the pattern he had always used?

“Wasn't Jesus continually chastising his disciples for not getting his point correctly, and we should assume that they got it right after his death?”

One, this is a flawed question on your friend's part since it assumes a factual error. Jesus was not continually chastising his disciples for not getting his point correctly. For example, Jesus commended Peter in Matthew 16:17 for getting it right.

Two, they had the Helper after Jesus departed to guide them, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth” (John 16:13).

Jesus wrote in the sand when the woman was caught in adultery!!

I agree. Jesus told them the Holy Spirit would come upon them and guide them. But He also "opened their understanding" to the scriptures after His resurrection that they could understand and communicate all the fulfillments of prophesy related to Jesus (Luke 24:45).

Jesus didn't depend upon wisdom of men, but divine guidance to spread the gospel. Besides that, He never really left them at all.

Matt 28:19-20
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

Actually, this is true only if we limit Jesus not writing anything during His years here on earth as a mortal.

But the resurrected Jesus DID write something! He wrote some letters. And it's recorded for all who wish, to read. True, He didn't personally inscribe these letters, but He dictated them to the apostle John, and John wrote them down exactly as they were dictated.

Jesus wrote to the seven churches of Asia. We can find these letters exactly as Jesus dictated them in Revelation 2:1-3:22.

You know Jesus could have sent an angel with a letter from him to every person that's ever lived if he wanted to but he wants people to believe by faith to a large extent.
"For without faith it's impossible to please God" so God's ways are'nt our ways.

Can you imagine what it would be like if Jesus had written a book (or scroll) and the original copy still existed? It would no doubt be worshipped and probably more than a few wars fought for possession of it! And the sceptics wouldn't accept it anyway.
