Thanks to Steve
Thanks to Steve
Just wanted to say thanks to Steve and his lectures on MP3. Two that I have been working on are Matthew and the series on eschatology. They have by far helped me more than any other source of bible teaching and have been a great blessing. His fairness and logic really help me to actually "think" about the topics where usually there is dogma and emotion without a reason why a particular view is held.
The eschatology series is just amazing. Being not very learned in this subject has made it dufficult to really hold a position for or against a particular doctrine. I "felt" something was not right with the popular held beliefs regarding disponsationalism and pre-millenialism but through ignorance I couldn't state why. The first trip through the mp3's have been very enlightening.
My goal now is to re-listen with a note book and do some serious note taking and bible reference. Hopefully the act of reading, writing and listening will help engrain much of this information.
Thank you again Steve for this. It has been a great Blessing to me and very exciting as well.

Re: Thanks to Steve
Hi Johnsdad and Karen,
Thank you very much for the encouragement. Teaching is really all I know how to do, so it is very gratifying to know that it is proving worthwhile and beneficial in people's lives.
I, too, am very grateful for the internet and the mp3s (all of which were posted by others who volunteered their time and who deserve as much thanks as I do for making them available). I remember a time in my life when it seemed that, whenever I should die, I would be taking a lifetime of learning with me to the grave. That thought was unsettling to me. Now that everything I know will survive me indefinitely on the internet (I am "a man with no unrecorded thoughts"), I honestly have felt quite prepared to "depart in peace." Not that I think I will be dying soon...it's just great to know that your work will continue even when you are gone.
My remaining goal is to re-teach everything, making better recordings (since most of our mp3s were originally recorded on cassette tapes, and are not of the best quality). Tom, from http://www.digitalministries.us—who recorded most of my lectures posted at his site—has moved to Ireland, and he said he is trying to find a location there for me run another school, to teach through the material again. If this materializes, it will allow us to make superior recordings of more up-to-date teachings. Obviously, my ideas have matured somewhat since the 1980's and 1990's, when many of our mp3s were made. If the school does not come together in Ireland, I may eventually (after my 17-year-old son is 18, and on his own) find a place somewhere stateside to re-teach the school. We'll see.

Re: Thanks to Steve
You may not know this Steve but there are even more people who listen daily. I have your whole set of Matthew lectures on my endtimesmadness website and lately several individuals internationally have been listening for hours to your recorded messages. The matthew series is what I think to be the most well done/easy listening of all. 27 to 30 minute recordings are the best IMO and this is how the Matthew series is formatted. God bless your work Steve.
Re: Thanks to Steve
That is good to know, Allyn. Thanks for that info. I agree that shorter lectures are to be desired. For one thing, the 90-minute format is not convenient because they are too long to be contained on single CDs in uncompressed form. The Matthew series is the only set of lectures that I did not do before a live audience. They were recorded for a half-hour radio program that ran for a year. They were recorded digitally, whereas almost everything else was recorded on cassette tapes. I am glad that these international students are listening at your site. It must have been one of them who contacted me from Holland this week. He said he had been listening to the eschatology series and the Matthew series. God bless you, and thanks for posting the lectures for those who hit your site.

You're welcome Steve. Another thing I like is seeing that these same international people post your recordings on their non-english discussion boards. I can't say I know what they are saying but the posts definetly refer to a time stamp which is apparently a part in the recording of greater interest. In other words people are discussing the teaching internationally.
Re: Thanks to Steve
Hi Steve,
I echo what has already been posted and I hope if you start teaching another school that there will be an anouncment because I'm sure that there are many people...including myself...that would be more than willing to move and sit under your teaching directly. Or, if another school is in your future, maybe it would be possible to offer online classes or some kind of online interaction in relation to the teaching...for those of us with families and cannot pick up and move as easily.

Re: Thanks to Steve
The technology is there. I just don't know a thing about it. These things usually get done in this ministry because someone who understands such things feels led to step forward and initiate media that never occurred to me, or at least that I would have had no idea how to implement.
Re: Thanks to Steve
Sheesh guys, there will be no living with Steve now! I can see his head growing from Connecticut... ; )

Re: Thanks to Steve
Steve, I'd like to grow your head a bit more. You have changed my life in many ways through your approach to teaching, as in not hiding behind ideologies or comfortable dogmas. I appreciate how you answer each question on the show without resorting to cliche or premeditation. But most of all, I appreciate the fact that you are one of the (very) few uncompromised Christians that I know. And, yes, while we've never so much as met in person, I feel I know you through your teachings and through what you've shared of your personal life.
I listen to your lectures, as well as TNP program, to learn more about the scriptures but a side benefit is that I've picked up your quirky way of explaining concepts. Now when someone asks me a question I give them exhaustive answers, which in turn makes me look smart. I'd say you've helped me greatly in my understanding of scripture but you've also given me quite the ego.
