Thanks for the link Devin, I really enjoyed it. I also really like Ravi, he seems to have very level headed answers to many questions.Devin wrote:Talks about calvinism and Arminianism

I thoroughly enjoy Ravi Zacharias. I found it interesting that he gave two messages at the 2007 Ligonier Ministries National Conference. The other speakers at the conference were:
Sproul senior
Sproul junior
Macarthur
Mohler
Piper
The conference was called "Contending for the Truth".

I don't know which church Ravi attends but I can say that his brother in law (whom he has know since they were young and are still very good friends) pastors an Alliance church here in Toronto. It has about 1300 attendees with too many different denominational backgrounds to mention (from Brethren to Pentecostal). Its main focus is prayer and missions.Does anybody know what kind of Church Ravi Zacharias goes to?

Avatar...My daughter and I standing on a glass floor. well over 1000 feet above ground at the CN Tower in Toronto...the tiny green dots beside my left foot are trees.
The other day, while researching stuff about A.W. Tozer (who's grandson I used to post with a lot @ Beliefnet, real nice guy, loves God, etc., just like his Grandpa)....
Ravi was listed as a "famous member" of The Christian Missionary & Alliance denomination. If I'm not mistaken the church in Toronto is Ravi's homechurch.
A.W. Tozer was Arminian. And I thought "The Alliance" was as well (don't know for sure, think so though).
Short lecture? I don't like those!
(I want every single detail! but will give it a listen anyway).....
Thanks Devin & all,
Rick
P.S. The lecture isn't currently available on Ravi's site...I'll google it (or if anyone has it?)......
P.S.S. According to this link, Ravi is a "moderate Calvinist" (or "inconsistent Arminian" kata James White)....er whatever.

Based on the date of Devin's orgininal post I think this is the correct link. It's from the April 13th program.

BTW...If the Toronto congregation is his home church, I wouldn't conclude that their statement of faith reflects Ravi's beliefs necessarily. My friend attends the church, and I'm personally aware of people who are in leadership who have not signed on to the statement of faith. The church's reasoning is, if someone is gifted by God in a certain area (like leadership) they wouldn't want non-essential denominational issues stand in the way. In fact, according to my friend, the senior pastor (Ravi's brother-in-law) has a different eschatological position than the denomination's official stance. He has decided not to make an issue of it though.

Steve F,
Thanks for the link...I'm having puter problems but thanks (it's RealPlayer & my puter don't do too well with it)....
I can't find the link on Ravi's church right now. He "goes there" some anyway, 'seems like I read someplace.
Anyway, thanks!

I've considered that with the Assemblies of God...having left one of their Bible colleges a long time ago (1981). But these days, adding to that I remain Amillennial (why I left them, among other things)...I no longer believe "speaking in tongues is the initial physical evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit" (as the A/G says)....As an aside to the thread, you wrote: In fact, according to my friend, the senior pastor (Ravi's brother-in-law) has a different eschatological position than the denomination's official stance.
