Hello, CatholicSteve. I won't pile on... just want to briefly address the objections you've raised about my comment.JC: My post was mainly meant for you because you said some very ugly things about Catholics while forgetting the very ugly and current history of the Protestants. Your friends here are interesting, but wow have you listened to the tenor of the discussion?
First, the context in which I delivered my comments about the embarrassing history of the RCC was this: Tim Staples' main arugment in this debate was the spotless, unbroken history of the RCC verses the scattered and random history of protestanism. Since Tim is not a stupid man, he knows the history of the RCC and therefore, made a very silly statement. I told Steve he should've taken advantage of the opportunity, which he did... later in the debate.
I find it a bit odd that my comment struck you as mean-spirited, only to read your blushingly hate-filled response. Pot... kettle... black....
The difference, it seems, between you and I is that you fragment people into categories and get rather angry when someone doesn't fit into a particular category. I don't consider myself a Roman Catholic or a Protestant because these are man-made categories. I'm sorry if that irritates you but it's not a faux label, only something that is foriegn to you. You are free to follow Rome but I'll follow Jesus (not Luther, Calvin or Steve Gregg). Didn't Jesus say in John 15 that those who obey his words are those that love him and in Matthew 7 that those who don't follow his commands are not his?
Brother, you are angry for a little thing. I know you feel as though everyone is attacking you but when I walk out into the world I meet lots of people who think you and I are silly and naive for believing in God at all! Yet, we are commanded to love even them... how much more our fellow believers? My words to Tim Staples may have seemed harsh but I have no ill feelings toward the man. I consider him a brother... and likewise to anyone else who follows Christ as best they can.
