Covenant Theology vs Dispensationalism

Thanks to all for discussing this with me. On the subject of John's baptism, isn't there a distinct difference between his baptism and that of the one instituted by the Great Commission? John's baptism prepared the person for the coming Kingdom of God, it called for people to repent. While the Christian baptism is a sign of the entrance into the Kingdom of God.

Mat 28:19-20 says: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Ok, so what is a disciple? It's a follower of Christ. How do you make a disciple? You baptize and teach them to observe all that was commanded. I realize an infant can't make a decision to follow Christ or have faith, or even 'observe what is commanded', but if that child is brought up in the ways of the Lord it will not depart. As the child grows it will produce fruit or be pruned from the vine. Much like the old covenant Jew. The circumcision did not save the Jew or enable the Jew to participate in the promises made, it was the Jews later faith.
