I see the two with different approches. Talbott comes with a logical approach and Piper with a "literal" (if thats the right word) approach.

I am planning on reading that book some time (U the current debate) but I MUST read Elect in the Son first.

did you read, The Evangelical Universalist by Gregory Mcdonals (psuedonym)?

I did read Talbotts book and while I don't think he proves everything and even can be as messy as his counterparts, I agree with him overall.
When he states in the book "I don't know how people find and eternal hell in scripture" (my paraphrase) I feel like he's not on earth; it's easy to see why people do due to literal interpretation.

But his argument via philophy ESPECIALLY on the argument of "rational" creatures MOVED ME HUGELY! I never thought about his approact to the issue of whether man is rational or not and how it seems it works.

In this artical his point that moved me was the principal that it is illogical for God to love me fully and at the same time hate my child.
To love someone perfectly and fully results in the desire to give me what I want which is his command for me to love my child. Therfore God cannot love someone fully and perfectly and hate his or her child. For if you claim to fully love me and I love my child as much as I love myself and you hate my child, how can I love you.....I think he's right...it's impossible. I feel he brings to light a powerful truth, NO CALVINIST I KNOW OF BELIEVES GOD HATES THEIR CHILDREN. I'd like to meet em and dialouge with them if there is any out there. You ever meet a person who argues for eternal securlty based on their hurtful past of someone they loved dearly but died in sin. Suddenly that person was a christian at 5 so they cannot go to hell. I've met a few of these and I realize it's an emotional argument. Now even I know that there is a case to be made for it. I'm just saying, I doubt piper TRULY believe God could hate his sons and fully love God.

This point has led me to one of the most profound times in my life.....
WHY DO I WORSHIP GOD?

I feel Talbott has helped me to realize I SHOULD WORSHIP HIM BECAUSE I FIND HIM WORTHY OF WORSHIP.

And now as a UR I find that he is far more glorious than we imagined.

Let me know piadon what you think of the article. I've emiled with talbott and he is not fond of the article. I'm not sure why he says he just does not like that style and he's changed quite a bit.
