TK, Tanak is an acronymn whcih reflects the three-fold division of the Jews:
T = Torah ("the Law", aka the Pentateuch aka "Moses")
N = Nevi'im (the Prophets)
K = Ketuvim (the Writings)
Here's a wikipedia article on this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanakh
I prefer saying Tanakh because I don't like the connotations of the phrase Old Testament. Likewise, I prefer to say "apostolic writings" rather than "the New Testament." I like to think of the apostolic writings as commentary on, and teaching based on the Tanakh.
The one-ness of God
So, again, what message was Yahweh trying to get across in all those echad passages? When you read:
"Hear O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one"
What point do you think Yahweh was trying to get across? Was is something like:
"Listen Israel, Myself, the Logos and the Holy Spirit are totally united in purpose. We are not dis-united like the gods of the Hitities."
Or, did it mean something like;
"Listen Israel, there is only one divine essence or substance. Contrary to the belief of the Hitites, there are not many divine essences/substances. There is only one divine essence."
If the latter, do you know of any teachings among the pagans concerning there being multiple divine essences?
"The LORD our God is one (essence)"
