Tithing is a law from ancient Judaism.

The "law of attraction" is not related to this subject, and has more to do with New Age religion.

These are unrelated subjects. There are few here that would see any validity in the so-called "law of attraction," as it is closer to occult thinking than to biblical thinking.

I'm not familiar with the "law of attraction". (I would like to hear more about you, emilysmith. :) )

Regarding the idea of obligatory "tithing to the local church": I guess that some of the pleasure of giving as God leads may be lost to those who believe that they are obligated to give x amount to their local-church even when they're not sure where the money goes or who or what it's helping. I know one person who recently said as much to me. Of course, people who give 10% to their local church are probably mostly good and generous people anyway, but still, this may be another downside of the bizarre (imo) mandatory-local-church-tithing teaching.
