... jealousy test ... rape laws ... description of law as holy ... I think i agree with all of that Steve. Thanks for your clarification. Can I come at my first question from a different angle? The essence of my initial objection was that there were laws in the OT that Christ did away with (eg Mat ...

Re: Which law is perfect?
You are judging God's law by your modern sensibilities. You say that this law is "imperfect;" is that another way of saying it was unjust? If so, wouldn't it then follow that the law-giver was unjust? I don't think I would want to say that about God. So which part of God's law is perfect? The 10 co...

Which law is perfect?
I heard Steve say on a sermon that the Mosaic law (specifically Deut 24) is a perfect law. So if we dismiss De 24 then we are saying that God's law is not perfect. I am not sure that i agree with that. One law came to mind that seems very imperfect - De 22.28-29. That is, a rapist must marry forever...

That may be technically correct Oh, one other thing that seems technically correct yet ridiculous is that a remarried person has a 50% chance of dying before his abandoned spouse dies. So technically the marriage covenant is then ended. Maybe that makes the adulterous marriage he has gone into that...

That may be technically correct, but I wonder if continuing to have her, or to marry her, indicates that a true repentance has not taken place. Yep, I agree Paidion. It seems to be a loophole of sorts. Yet David was truly repentant so true repentance in such a scenario is possible. Jesus said that ...

What are you talking about here? Will David be condemned to hell? TK Hi TK No, I am sure David will be fine. I was reading Matthew 7 this morning where those who thought they were saved said 'Lord, Lord' and Jesus responded by saying He didn't know them. They were excluded from the Kingdom of Heave...

Excellent post Poet. I have never noticed that about Lot's daughters before. i think we are on the same side on this. Sad that there are sides. I think you are the first person i have read that has linked revival with this topic. I have been thinking the same thing. Even found a verse to kind of sup...

I know that many of your translations will read "divorces" in the verse quoted above. But the Greek word "apoluō" means "to separate from". I didn't think there was a Greek word for the verb 'divorce'. There is one for the noun 'writing of divorcement' (apostasion). What Greek word would be used to...

And when Paul and Christ fully acknowledge that many men and women CANNOT endure celibacy ? Youre not being realistic about this at all but using something Paul presented as desirable and trying to pass it off as an absolute. Paul certainly said celibacy was desirable. But he also commanded it for ...
