As for your last point, I don't agree that hell "describes the life of someone who is overcome in sin," simply because I don't think there is any word for hell in the Hebrew or Greek scriptures. Steve, I was a bit too general with my statement. I should have said that many of the passages in the Ne...

Rom 5:10

Rom 5:10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. This verse seems to draw a contrast between reconciliation and salvation as if they are referring to different things. Pauls says we were (p...

Whether Paul meant "all things" or "all people" seems to me a moot point; unless, one believes that "all things" includes only a sample of all things rather than the whole of His creation. All things would include all people. The verses that indicate that we must "remain faithful until death" are no...

TK,

Here is a verse which may relate to your topic.

Ec 9:10
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

The only way in which these two sentences could be true is if the word "die" in the first sentence is used in a different sense than it is in the second --- for example if the word in the first sentence refers to physical death, and in the second "spiritual" death. However, I doubt that this is the...

John: 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me SHALL NEVER DIE. Do you believe this?” what about this one? TK TK, I believe that Jesus is not referring to physical death here; he is...

"that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil 2:10-11) One other point that should be made about this verse is the last line which says, " to the glory of God th...

Matt,

Just curious. Do you believe that those who are to be annihilated are first resurrected, judged, punished and then destroyed?...or do you think that perhaps they are simply judged unworthy of resurrection?...or something else?

The reason I posted Rom 8:18-23 was to support Doug's view that there is a contrast between Christians and the creation. Doug has pointed out that there is to be a renewal of God's creation following the redemption of the Sons of God. This passage in Romans supports that idea very well. I agree that...
