Re: God's Wrath

If salvation is limited merely to avoiding the unpleasant consequences of sin in this present, mortal, finite life alone, then it too would shrink to the infinitesimal. What I have said is that salvation comes in two parts. There is salvation in this mortal life, yes; but there is also salvation fr...

Re: God's Wrath

But salvation is really about being saved from sin and its consequences. But if those consequences of sin apply to this present mortal life alone, (isn't that more or less what you've been saying?) then that really doesn't amount to very much. It's infinitesimally small, in fact. Or, as Paul put it...

Re: God's Wrath

I don’t mean to only argue philosophically, but it seems that if all verses of death punishment and judgment mean nothing to Universalists but stress in this life then I am left with nothing. I realize that ultra-univeralism requires a paradigm shift in one's thinking from a traditional view of jud...

Re: God's Wrath

So then, in the hereafter, do you see any difference between those who, in this life, are righteous and the unrighteous, sinners and holy, (dare I say it) just and unjust? Put another way, do you see that this present life has any consequences at all in the life to come? This is an excellent questi...

Re: God's Wrath

Todd, How do you interpret the several “bear fruit” scriptures which speak of those that do not bear fruit as being cast into fire? Do you see this being cast into the fire as something that happens in this life? Matt 3:10-13; 7:19; 13 (parable of sower); 18:8-9; John 15:1-6 (“I am the vine”). Yes,...

Re: God's Wrath

Paidion wrote: That which vengeful man understands as God's wrath and vengeance, is actually God's tough love, one of his means of correcting, and facilitating change in, those who need it. All of God's judgments are remedial! Hallelujah! JR cited: He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but h...

Re: God's Wrath

Well, our conceptions change the way we preach and portray and share G-d with others; which in turn may affect their response to the G-d we have shared with them; which in turn may affect their response to the G-d who is. Furthermore, our conceptions change the way we interact with other persons - ...

Re: God's Wrath

yeah man, in this case, that was adequate at least for me, to more clearly see where you're coming from in romans 8. thanks for that. Rom 8:18-25 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest...

Re: God's Wrath

as a follow up though, how do you understand the phrase repeated thoughout as "in Christ" ? for me that phrase or concept becomes the root of any categories i see regarding the resurrection. as in, those of us raised to aeonian life, and those of us raised to aeonian condemnation. For a more thorou...

Re: God's Wrath

would you demonstrate why you think it's correct to think paul's use of "creation" and "the whole of creation" are references to the rest of humanity? or maybe point me somewhere where that answer is available, (i imagine it wouldn't be a short answer, but maybe) I prefer short answers, although th...
