Re: INERRANCY OF SCRIPTURE?
Looking back at the OP about Matthew's supposed mistake in referencing Jeremiah instead of Zechariah, it sould seem Zech 11 is merely affirming and elaborating on what was already said by Jer 23. Perhaps Matthew has joined the two prophetic utterances so that we might look to Jeremiah before we see ...

Re: INERRANCY OF SCRIPTURE?
When Matthew or the other apostles explain what fulfills what was written that the prophets said - should we think that is inspired? For example: Mat 1:22 - Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Mat 1:23 - Behold, a virgin shall be wit...

Re: CHRISTIAN ZIONISM & ISRAEL
When Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined Ahab to fight the Syrians who came against Israel - and Ahab was killed, which was according to prophecy; we hear these words to him from the prophet: 2 Chr 19:1 - And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem. 2 Chr 19:2 - And Je...

Re: Paul's incomplete answer to the Thessalonians
One of my problems with full-preterism is that it seems compelled to shove all eschatological information into one pigeonhole, whether it is a good fit or not. For example, I have no problem seeing Revelation as being primarily about AD70, even though it was written to churches in Asia, who were no...

Re: Paul's incomplete answer to the Thessalonians
Have you considered the possiblity that the "coming" addressed in 2 Then 2 is a different event than what is described in other areas of the letters to the Thessalonians like 1 Thess 4? If you would be referring to 70AD, I'd have a little difficulty seeing it that way. He said that before the 'comi...

Re: Reigning with Christ?
I don't know much about the amil understanding other than they seem to spiritualize this passage. So perhaps I have already disqualified myself. But I do have an opinion :) That we are being given a glimpse into the spiritual realm here seems clear. The souls of beheaded saints to me speaks of the a...

Re: Daniels' Seventy Sevens
What was clear for the prophecy given to Daniel for his people is made obscure for us because we cannot establish the exact dates looking back and trying to go forward as they did. But we don't need to because we are not looking forward to the coming of those things. And unless we can go back in tim...

Re: Israel and the Church
It does seem clear that Rev. distinguishes between the saints as being those in Christ and true Jerusalem as a heavenly city. The earthly counterparts in apostasy however take on symbolic names. Which seems in line with Paul's allegory of Hagar and Sarah and the 2 covenants. But in Rev., Israel/Jeru...

Re: Who incited David to number Israel?
I wonder if the purpose wasn't that "as the king goes, so goes the nation". The pestilence that was sent upon Israel because of David's numbering them was the area covered by Saul's kingdom. A few chapters before in 2 Sam we see that Absalom had caused a split amongst them to rebel against David. Th...

Re: How do you read Hebrew poetry?
David was declared to be a man after God's heart and his psalms reflect that this is his heart's desire. A righteous man has a love for goodness and a hatred of evil, and he correctly discerns and judges accordingly. A wicked man does the opposite, calling good evil and evil good. He perverts justic...
