A shy hello to all

Hello

just joined up and really looking forward to a lot of reading and learning here.
I have just started uploading some of Steve's teaching on my youtube channel, the gospel of Matthew, great teaching.
I feed with my ears so the uploads are nothing to look at but wonderful to listen to, I praise God for your insight Steve Gregg.
I am in Ireland and very much an isolated Christian but I feel God helped me find these wonderful teachings and now I don't feel so isolated.
I will probably be a silent forum member but present none the less :D

MsCread , your first post could have been my first post as well. God bless you, we are here for you. I hope n' pray both of us and other isolated Christians might find some more truly edifying fellowship. Sincerely,

Hi MsCread,

I am sorry that you feel so isolated in your area. This is an increasingly common phenomenon among Christians in this apathetic age. There is pretty good fellowship here. It is a place where disagreements are often discussed in a lively manner, but where the love of Christ is valued above all else. Feel free to tell us more—according to your comfort level—about your background or circumstances. Many of us are probably curious about the spiritual environment in Ireland. We may even have other forum participants not far from you geographically.

The spiritual environment in Ireland is in my opinion either non existent, new age or religious.

In my town there are three churches, 2 RC and 1 Protestant and that’s it. Although a curious thing happened about a year or two back a Baptist Church appeared outside of town. That’s a curious thing to happen here as Ireland was/is dominated by the RC church. We have Mormons, Pentecostal, JW etc but not in the towns maybe nearer the cities, I am not sure where but they are all here somewhere.

I don’t fit into any of the above but I was tempted to try the Baptist Church but I have a feeling it may be dispensationalist and I don’t belong there either. I have learned much from dispensational teaching. The odd JW knocks on the door every now and then and I have been so longing to talk to someone face to face about scripture that I nearly considered talking to them but again I don’t belong there either.

Most Irish are either RC or Protestant. The majority of people in my town either attend RC church or none at all. They maintain the RC rituals of paedobaptism, confirmation etc. I would say this is largely done so that they can have the materialistic parties etc afterwards.

They call themselves Christians but I imagine the majority don’t know what they are talking about. They generally don’t read scripture, they don’t own bibles and they are not encouraged to do so. I believe there may be the odd genuine Christian but they are thin on the ground so to speak.

One good thing in my opinion is that the RC church is taking a good “hammering” here at the moment and there are attempts being made to remove them from positions such as the school boards etc. A lot are falling away form the RC church due to recent scandals (never mind historical ones) although some still attend turning a blind eye. We have religion here and very little else as far as I can maintain.

I don’t know of any bible study groups or stuff for the kids even. I don’t see any biblical Christians anywhere here so they either don’t exist or they are just as isolated as me.

I was paedobatised as an infant but since becoming a biblical Christian I have not been baptised which grieves me greatly. I don’t know how to get baptised, who can baptise me, where?

Being isolated is not all bad as I have learned to rely and trust the Lord even more and my growth reflects that.

I became saved after I was married so my husband is unsaved; my eldest child is a teen and seems unreachable. My two youngest, I hope to teach as best I can. It’s difficult for me to bring it down to a child like level but we will get there.

I have a you tube channel that’s all bible study related and I told my family about it. Nobody has since approached me to talk about anything.
I am not sad that I am isolated, the Lord knows what He is doing but it grieves me that I don’t see any real biblical Christians anywhere around me.

I have thought about having a bible study group in my home but these things usually start with family and in my case I know nobody would attend.
In my opinion Ireland has and probably always had a very poor and dismal understanding of biblical spiritual matters. The RC church is a great culprit in this.

Apologies if this was too long but well I was asked.

Thanks to all for a lovely welcome.

Not at all! I'm glad to be aware of such situations. Thank you very much. I also pray that God will supply all the courage and strength you need and that His people will be brought together in your area and that others (your family!) will come to Him.

This forum has been good for me as a source of good Christian Bible discussion and fellowship, which is most enjoyable. Though separated by time zones and cultures, we all seem to have a common desire for that.

Welcome!

Glad to here your thoughts. Often a church may be dispensationalist but if they don't make it a "must believe" doctrine and have other good teaching and fellowship it may be a good idea to give this church a chance.
There is no perfect church where you will agree with everything they preach, so what i do is listen and consider what i hear and try to learn more about the things i think are biblically sound.
It also doesn't matter to me if folks around me agree with me on every doctrine.
