Drinking Alcohol...

Post by _Blev » Mon Sep 19, 2005 7:36 pm

Besides not having a Church, one of the things that have kept me from aggresively seeking Baptism..is that I still drink occasionally. I sometimes bindge drink and surf the internet. I am a believer, but I was wondering if...my soul is lost due to drinking if I died tomorrow? Thanks

I know you are most likely wanting an answer from Steve...
Personally, I dont find a place in scripture that forbids drinking alcohol,
although getting drunk I believe is wrong.
I am a christian who enjoys an occasional glass of wine or a beer (1)
now and then. I do not intend to offend others that may disagree with me.
I dont drink daily.....
If you are surfing the net for any wrong motives that is wrong.....
I enjoy this site as well as many other christian sites.

Hi Blev,

1 Cor 6:10 lists drunkards as among those that shall not inherit the kingdom. However, scripture does not explicitly forbid drinking and in fact, Jesus himself drank wine and was even accused of being a winebiber by the Pharisees (Matt 11:19). In my opinion, it's the drunkenness that is the issue and is the sin (biblically speaking). If you have a problem with controlling alcohol intake (binge drinking) and you are finding yourself getting drunk, it may be better for you to abstain altogether. I would personally prefer not to let anything get in the way of my relationship with Jesus.
