Post by marty » Sat Mar 12, 2011 5:22 pm

Steve has mentioned a bible software he likes and I was wondering what that was? Also, what are some other favorites on this site. Thanks.

I can't say that I've used lots of different software, as my recommendation pretty much does everything I need/want it to do. Therefore I can't claim that it's best all around. But it suits me fine. You can get the basic package (KJV, Strongs, Treasury of Scripture Knowledge) for free (So the price is good :) ). I'm talking about E-Sword.

Their site: http://www.e-sword.net/

Hope this helps.

In my opinion nothing comes close to:

The Online Bible

You can have many translations. You can look at the Greek and/or the Hebrew. You have commentators and various writings. Even if you don't know Greek or Hebrew, you can look up all occurences of a word in the New or Old Testament by entering the Strong's number.
Paidion

Man judges a person by his past deeds, and administers penalties for his wrongdoing. God judges a person by his present character, and disciplines him that he may become righteous.

Looks great if only on Mac. I really like that Logos is available on all platforms including very nice iPhone and iPad apps.

Blue Letter Bible apps on iPhone/iPad are also very nice.

Does anyone use http://preceptaustin.org/ Its free also. I don't mind paying for a good package, as long as its fairly complete.

I have used PCStudy Bible put out by Biblesoft. They have several Reference Library packages to choose from. http://www.biblesoft.com. Purchase the Reference Library that suits you and purchase additional add ons at your convenience. If and when you upgrade operating system beyond the softwares capabilities they will upgrade all your software for a minimal charge.
