Early Church Fathers writings

Can anyone recommend some good books that help describe doctrines that the early church fathers held? I know listening to Steve's lectures on 2 Thes it was interesting to here who the early Christians believed was the Antichrist. I think he even mentioned while quoting that he found this information in a specific book but doesn't mention the title. I have access to a lot of the early writings but don't have the time to read them all. I am sure there are some good books out there that pull from these old writings topically to give us a better understanding of what they believed. Thanks in advance for any help that can be given.

Erich, you may wish to try the
Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture:

It is a commentary of several volumes on the New Testament. You can obtain the first volume "Gospel of Mark" at a very reasonable price. You would be required to "join the club", but you can refuse future volumes with no penalty.

Here is the website:

Erich,

The Writings of the Early Fathers and just about all other ancient documents are available online. (The Dead Sea Scrolls aren't fully online yet, that I know of).

Here's a link (to other links):
Hall of Church History
Warning, lol: this site is Calvinistic....but still has the links.
(see Eusebius of Caesarea: Church History for 1st 300 years or so)

Peter Kirby's:
Early Christian Writings
is great! ...has articles by translators and theologians (experts).

Also, I really wish everyone would "name" their links in this forum; my page gets real "long like" (and I have to scroll back and forth to read posts). Not complianing, well, yes I am...(bless my heart)...I can scroll back and forth. It's just a hassle.

The book(s) Paidion recommended are really good. I haven't read any but have browsed through a couple of them.
