Since we've read the entire narative of the OT she was very familiar with the situation (including an understanding of the geneolgical records) so I told her about it. Yes, we even read many of the geneolgies(not all of them) and point out the highlights in many of them and explain the purpose behind it.
This may seem like a "boring" approach (for kids) but she will often ask (after having gone through several chapters), "Can we read another chapter"? I think we can sell kids short sometimes.
