Can anyone tell me why the NASB translated the Hebrew name "Yehowshuwa" [Strongs 03091] as "Joshua" in some Old Testament passages, but as "Jeshua" in others?

On the few I looked up, the interlinear seems to have them different as well.
Joshua seems to be "yahowshua" and Jeshua seems to be "yeeshewa" Strongs 3442.
I didn't look up every occurance though.
Looking it up in the Englishmans, I also noticed the KJV translates it "Jehoshua" in 2 places (Num 13:16 and 1 Chro 7:27).

Christopher, the NASB translates "Yehowshuwa"[Strongs 03091] as "Jeshua" in the following verses:
I Chron 24:11, 2 Chron 31:15, Ezra 2:2, 2:6, 2:35, 2:40, 3:2, 3:8, 3:9,
4:3, 5:2, 6:33, 10:18, and there are 16 occurences in Nehemiah.
You stated that "Yeeshewa" [Strongs 3443] has been translated as "Jeshua". Any Strongs numbers which do not begin with zero, are Greek words from the New Testament. So I tried looking up "03442". Apparently that number does no exist in Strongs.

Thank you for the information, Benjamin.
I can only conclude that my "Online Bible" is not giving the correct Strongs Numbers. In does give the one instance of "Jeshua" as 03443 in the NASB95. But all other 28 occurences of "Jeshua" are given as Strongs 03091.

Can't "Joshua" also be "Hosea" or "Hoshea."
