I don't get a chance to read for pleasure very often because of a very demanding schedule (law school). I am very interested in becoming acclaimated with early church history as I feel this is an area where Christians are severely uneducated, myself included. I enjoyed Steve's lectures about Church History, they were very informative. I know there is no short road to understanding early church history, but I suppose I must start somewhere. Is there any particular recommended starting point? Lay level or scholarly, either will suffice. Should I just begin with Eusebius' Church History? I enjoy this forum because there is intelligent Christian discussion going on, and I'm sure someone could point my in the right direction. Thank you.

Hi JJR,

I was just asking about this yesterday. One of the many bright people I know pointed me to e-sword.net. If you already have e-sword you can download Schaff's Early Church Fathers. I believe it's not his complete work, but it would be a starting point.

That's where I plan on starting.

I like your name
