I have a Christian friend who wants my opinion about acupuncture. She works for an acupuncturist and sent some questions about it, as well as a couple videos which may be aired as TV ads. She wanted my opinions on the videos, as to their quality, and so on. They were done well but that doesn't pertain to here. Her boss, the acupuncturist, is a former believer. Obviously, she has no qualms about acupuncture herself.
Two Qs (she asked, pertinent for here) -
Have you ever considered acupuncture?
Why or why not?
(My answers for here, I haven't replied to her yet ) -
I haven't seriously considered acupuncture. At one time, when backslidden, I thought about it for back problems. No acupuncturists were near my area. My overall feelings about it are: Though there may be something to it, I'm skeptical. I think a "placebo effect" possibly plays into positive outcomes for those who "believe" in it. If there is something "real" to it, I suppose there is. But as a Christian, due to its "ties" to Eastern philosophy and/or religion (cf. New Age Movement), I wouldn't consider it for myself nor recommend it to others.
Thoughts anyone?
Thanks!
