Extra-biblical History of Apostles

Anyone know of any credible information on the Apostles outside the scriptures? Books or articles?

How early? I believe the church fathers give us some details, at least the ones I've read. I take them as credible, especially the ones who were martyred. Aside from the early fathers, I'm not sure of any others.
