Selah?

Post by _schoel » Tue Nov 20, 2007 11:22 am

Perhaps it might be time to let the debate over Christian Universalism or Universal Reconciliation rest, at least for now.

As one who's been enjoying and learning from the discussion, I've also noticed that many feel passionate (including myself) and that the passion can result rifts between brothers and sisters in Christ. It will be unifying to focus on other issues where we may find agreement and the disagreements over this topic will seem distant.

Anyone for calling a Truce for a while?

Hi dave-

i kind of want to agree with you and i kind of dont, the reason being that this is a very vital issue. sure, there are points of agreement, but the ultimate question is whether UR is "another gospel" or whether the traditional view is "another gospel." they can't both be THE true gospel.

what could be more important than making sure we have the gospel right?

Hi Dave,

I am with TK on this, in that I both agree and disagree with what you proposed. I agree in the sense that I perceive dissension in the body. I feel like brothers in Christ are not treating each other with the gentleness and respect I believe our Lord desires.

I wish the dialog could continue, with a gentler tone. I understand the passion on both sides. One of our posters has indicated that he can sense the hiss of Satan, deceiving the other side. This may or may not be true, but I suspect there is some satisfaction in the enemies camp when he sees the body of Christ in discord.

One way to work to remove this is, as you suggest, declare a truce for a period of time. I wish we could continue to dialog, respecting the fact that all have declared allegiance to the same Lord.

Thanks for your wise contribution to our discussion, and for your patience with those of us (including me) who have changed the subject in your other thread.

Blessings,
Mike

We could call each other heretics and get it out of our systems....
Or, well, how can I put this? I'll just say, "I know what I believe, anyway".....

Anyway.
Have a Thankful Happysgiving, Boys!

You mean it's not out of your system yet?

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

No it isn't.
I can't seem to help but to keep on believing what I believe no matter what I read or what anyone says (or asks)....

It's like "inside of me and won't come out!"

I think we should burn all the 'heretics' at the stake! Problem is, no one would be left here! Where is an Inquisitor when you need one?

Happy Turkey one and ALL
In Jesus,
Bob

I call Traveler Bob to the witness stand.

Bob, raise your right hand and promise to tell the truth, cross your heart & swear to die!

No, Bob, you aren't disqualifed.

Reason being is, Origen, the founder of 'Christian Universalism' took that saying literally too. And then, he cut his own testicles off ... ....

YIKES!!!!

Anyways, on that note and ruling, this court is now adjourned till whenever I feel like it.
