The fact that "other" is placed in brackets seems to indicate that it was meant as a note, or explanation. I wonder whether it was meant to be "other" than the Father? Or other than His Son? I suspect the latter, since JWs believe Jesus was Michael the Archangel, the first and highest created being.
The JW's have a terrible reputation for snatching sources from "thin air". They even went as far as quoting a new-age spiritualist as an authority on John 1:1. Terrible organization, period.
