Two things I've read in the bible that I think dispell the view of the "Sons of God" in Genisis being Angels are;

In Hebrews 1:5 It pretty much says that Angels are not the Sons of God .... "For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?"

Also if you read the verse in Genisis 6:4, it plainly says that the Nephilim were already on the Earth.... before the sons of God went to the daughters of men..this occurred afterward......"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown."

Blev, Re Hebrews 1.5 . This is referring to the fact that an angel can't be God's only begotten Son namely Jesus but in the OT the term Sons of God usually did refer to angels. As far as the Nephilim go it says "they were on the earth IN THOSE DAYS." In seems to mean "during those days" like a present tense.
You know when you think about such a drastic measure God took to wipe out almost everyone it seems to me that a cataclysmic event happened to cause that solution, something more dramatic then just a Godly line of men gone bad.

It is also interesting how Giants reappear on the Earth after the Great Flood, since the new Earth would have only been repopulated by the people from Noah's Ark.

True and it's interesting how evil reappeared since the purpose of the flood was because of wickedness everywhere. And God knew evil would resurface so why the flood. It just seems there was something veiled ,something Satanic that could'nt be eradicated any other way. There seems to be something missing in the description of the flood and the reason for it. Maybe that's why the additional pieces of info are mentioned in Jude and 2nd Peter.
