The Kingdom NOW

Post by _AARONDISNEY » Sat Dec 09, 2006 9:52 am

First off I want to state that I do not believe that the fulness of the Kingdom of God is now in our midst. I believe it is going to eventually be literally a worldwide Kingdom with Christ reigning on the Earth. That is where I will disagree with many of you.

But I am in agreement with the fact that Christ began the Kingdom in his first advent. It is simply evident to me. In the parable of the wheat and the tares, as Christ explains the meaning to His disciples, He says that at the end of the age, the angels will gather all the tares out of His Kingdom. If the Kingdom has not yet began, how could he remove them from it?

Many in my Church totally shun the thinking of calling the culture of people who are regenerated the Kingdom until it is fully realized. I was wondering if I could get some scripture or good arguments (that I'm sure many of you have readily available in your mind from having to defend your position so often) that I could use in discussion with them.

I promise I mean no Kingdom Now or Later debate by this. Just needing some help - thanks a million.

Right, the thought is that the jews rejected Christ so he left and took the kingdom with him.
"But if i drive out demons by the Spirit of God , then the kingdom of God has come upon you." Matt 12.28
Even in Exodus 19.6 God introduced the kingdom "You will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation."
Also i think Luke 17 says "the kingdom of God is within you."
and Rev 5.10, Matt 8 and Matt22.

Hi Aaron,

Rather than give you a few proof texts, I'd recommend you pick up a copy of "The Gospel of the Kingdom" by George Eldon Ladd. It's a classic.
