Should Abusive Marriage Be Grounds for Divorce?

Post by _AARONDISNEY » Tue Jul 04, 2006 9:12 am

According to what we have in scripture.....I don't see that it is grounds for divorce. But is there anything else in any other scripture that would allow for divorce after severe abuse has been suffered by a woman?

To me it seems that in such instances it should be warranted. Just simply from what I know the heart of God to be, but the scriptures seems silent as far as I can tell. Any opinions?

Matt 5:31-32
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
(KJV)

oops...sorry...I just realized that there was a more appropriate place in the forums for this thread....

This may have even been covered in that forum. If so - sorry about making this redundant post
