I am attending a Community Church...I have never seen the pastor/elders
pray for the sick or ask if anyone wants salvation. I am use to a
penecostal type church but have not found one in my area.

Hey brother,

Maybe they think the church service is for the edification of the body and not evangelism. I would tend to agree there and say that's more biblical.

As for the healings, maybe they want someone to ask to be healed. They haven't turned anyone down have they?

I tend to agree with you. The Church that I attended for the last 2 years made a point of listing the number of people that they saved over the last year in the news bulletin. But I never did feel edified by the Church or get a feeling of real communtiy. For this reason I am in between Churches surching for a new place to worship.

When my husband was ill there was never a time to ask for prayer.
Ater service the pastor was gone and I am not sure of the elders
and who they are.

Indeed it does! I don't think that it needs to be a normative part of every church service. Unless the Lord wills it. If there are lots of sick folks there should be prayer in some form for them, if not during the service then after. Same goes for the demon possessed.

Have you been to more than one service? Is it a big church? If so, maybe you should a smaller church where asking who need's prayer is (during the service) more practical?

I hope you find a good church. They are not as abundant as one might think. God bless you on your hunt if this isn't the one.

I know the church I attend focuses on worshipping God first in service. We often have a time were individuals go up to speak, who ever is lead as the pastor leaves the mike open to anyone. We sing. We hear a sermon. We then have a time to write out prayer request. Then after the service most hang around and talk on many subjects from our struggles to how the Lord so provides. It feels like a true family to me. It probably helps that the church has an average attendance of 100-120 on sundays.
