Homosexuality

Post by Biblegate » Sat Jun 22, 2019 5:15 pm

What does the Bible teach concerning homosexuality? That's what a caller asked Bible-teacher Steve Gregg, host of The Narrow Path radio broadcast.

What are your thoughts?

Man, that was an AWESOME response from Steve there! REALLY good! Covered pretty much all the bases in such a clear, logical, and, above all, Scriptural manner. God bless you, Steve!

I suppose the only things I would add (not correct, but add) are:
1.) In addition to Eve (the wife) being a helpmate to Adam (the husband) in the work of procreation and upbringing of children, she also provides good, human companionship (that the animals could not provide), as Adam (the husband) provides the same for Eve (wife).

2.) Because homosexual acts are contrary to God's plan for marriage (as this plan is revealed in both Scripture as well as in nature itself), homosexual tendencies are ordered towards something contrary to reason and to God's plan. Thus, like any tendencies in us which are ordered towards an irrational (and/or sinful) end, they must be guided by reason (and, perhaps, in the process, be re-oriented in a proper manner). A number of Christian Psychologists are saying that those tendencies are rooted in, and caused by, a deep WOUND in the heart (often a "father-wound"); thus, the presence of homosexual desires/tendencies in a soul is a sign that there is this psychological and emotional wound that needs to be healed (and, once it is healed, for many individuals, these homosexual tendencies either lessen or, perhaps, practically disappear). Thus, the TRULY compassionate and loving way to respond to those brothers and sisters of ours who experience same-sex attraction is to, first of all, encourage them to live chastely (which means, at the very least, no sexual activity outside of marriage), and, secondly, to lead them to a counselor who can help heal them from those inner wounds which are likely causing these homosexual desires to be present. Here is one link on such therapy (given by Christian counselor, Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, who, sadly, died a couple years ago, but whose work is carried on by others): https://www.josephnicolosi.com/collecti ... osexuality
