Hi Sean,
This girl is in a family that I know well. She is actually in her early twenties, but I think of her as a girl because she is single and lives with her parents, as does her older sister and the other five children (with the exception of one younger sister, who just got married). This is a good, homeschooling Christian family. The daughter who had the problem is a quiet, artistic and musically-gifted girl, who went to a local Bible college, and is, I believe, academically superior.
Her behavioral problems occurred as a result of her seeking an alternative therapy for a strange physical problem that doctors had not been able to diagnose or relieve. The woman who offered the therapy was a New Age sort of healer, and within days of seeing her, this girl began to manifest demonization. It began in the Sunday morning service of the large Baptist church where she and her family were attending. During the closing singing, she began to writhe and to think she was a bat. She did strange things with her arms and made bat-like noises (I wasn't present at that service, so I am going by reports on this). Her behavior disrupted the service, where there were probably at least 1000 people in attendance. Someone called 911, and she was taken to the mental ward of the local hospital. Later, she was released to her parents and she went home. She was not normal again for four months.
During that time, a number of Christian friends and ministers, including myself, visited their home and sought to cast the demons out of her. The girl was violently out of her mind for most of two months, and for another two months, she was more calm, but incapable of conversing sanely. She physically attacked her father and her mother, and they were always concerned about her hurting herself. She did try to jump out of their upstairs window at one point, but they grabbed her and prevented her from doing so. They kept her in the parents' bedroom night and day, until it seemed safe to let her come downstairs. I was in Hawaii when the problem first arose, but, upon returning home, I visited the family, numerous times, and twice slept overnight in the room with her and her father.
It would be impossible to specifically recall the insane things she was continually saying. They were too incoherent even to remember clearly. However, there was one night that I stayed there in which I believe four or five demons left her serially, saying things out of her mouth before they left, like "I will destroy her!" We calmly took authority over them and commanded them to leave in the name of Jesus. The reason I believe four or five demons left that night was that I saw a cycle take place about that many times. She was lying in bed with her father and me on either side of her. A cycle would begin with her lying calmly, but her right arm would then begin to stiffen, contort and draw up toward her face, as her body would begin to shake. We would hold her to steady her and command the spirits to leave. From her mouth, the words, "No! No! NO!" would come out in a husky voice, with increasing volume, and her back would arch and her body convulse. With the final, and loudest "NO!", there would come a release, and she would fall limp again on the bed. She would lie thus for perhaps a minute, and then the cycle would repeat. Every time the cycle climaxed, there would appear to be a release that gave us the impression that something had left. I couldn't swear by it, of course, since the demons are not visible, only audible. After the last of these cycles, she was able to get to sleep, and she slept through the night (which she had not previously done for many days).
However, the next day, new manifestations occurred. There were many visits by myself and others, who came to pray, and the parents were also strong in their prayers, but were also at their wits' end. There seemed to be other times of demons leaving, when I was not present, but the last violent manifestation did not occur until about two months into the ordeal. For two months following, she was very spaced-out, and not in touch with any reality around her, though the manifestations seemed to have ceased. Finally, she appeared to be completely back to normal.
This was by no means the first experience I have had in dealing with demonized people. It is just the most recent. Her case is not exceptional, from what I have read. There are many times when the expulsion of the total number of demons requires a protracted battle. This one ended up very happily, for the glory of God, though it seemed to drag on forever, at the time.
For a more amazing case than this, read about Blumhardt's battle at this link:
