Church correction using an elder and a newer believer to travel to other churches

Post by crgfstr1 » Thu Apr 22, 2021 6:41 pm

I seem to recall a hearing or reading that the way that churches should ensure that they haven't developed their own false doctrines was to send both an elder (or one well verse in their local churches beliefs) along with someone who the elder respects but doesn't know the local churches doctrines as well, to visit near by churches.

This seems wise to me as the elder can thoroughly explain their doctrines and the younger can listen well to any correction and by having the respect of the elder can explain why their doctrine needs correction. This seems like a sound way to keep a church from falling into "group thinking" that goes horribly wrong.

I have searched for such a writing or lesson but I can not find it. It might even be in the bible but sadly I can't seem to find the passage or the teaching so maybe I am mistaken.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
