The Narrow Path Ministries

Is anyone familiar with this person and his teachings? I've been hearing him quoted often by pastors and other church leaders, but at this point I know very little about him. It seems he might have some unconventional view about justification.

He is an Anglican, the Bishop of Durham. I have read some of his writings and listened/watched some of his teachings. He is very deep. A very intellectual man with some strong feelings about the Lord. He is involved in the Emerging Church movement.

At the link above are many articles he has written and some audio and video lectures he has given. I would agree with the unconventional tag. I found him very interesting and sometimes too deep to understand without much reflection. I encourage you to check him out.

I'm quite familiar with N.T. Wright's teachings. I've read a number of his books and listened to several of his lectures. I've also met the man. He is generally considered one of the leading Pauline scholars in the world today and even his critics don't dispute his credentials. He is at the forefront of what's come to be known as the "New Perspective on Paul", which has to do with trying to understand Jesus, Paul and the New Testament in light of their Jewish historical and cultural setting.

There are many excellent articles here, including a critique of Wright's view on justification.

My theology has been profoundly impacted by his teaching, as has my hunger to study scripture and live as a follower of Jesus. I would recommend his book "The Challenge of Jesus" as a good introduction and summation of what Wright has to say.

I have read 2 of his books so far and I think he is interesting and thought provoking.

I've been so blessed recently in listening to brother Wright's lectures. He focusses alot on the big picture of the Bible and shows that instead of being a book about how individual people can "get saved", the Bible is actually all about God's restorative plans for His whole creation. What is particularly exciting is that he shows how recognising this this great should directly impact on the way we should live and act in this age.

Refreshingly, he teaches that the culmination of God's great plan is the resurrection and renewal of creation. He boldly states that the Bible has very little to say concerning "going to heaven." He laments the gnosticism of western Christianity which looks to an escape from creation rather than a restoration of it.

Yeah, it's been over a year since I posted in this thread and I've read a few more Wright books since then. I like his point of view more and more. His books aren't quick reads. He's great at keeping things in perspective.

His writings are good, but not the most accessible...maybe it's a British thing. But his audio teachings are worth listening to...much easier on the ears than the eyes.

I just got through listening to his Jesus series given at the InterVarsity Press Conference, January 1999.

I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with Wright's presentation of Jesus in light of 1st century Judaism context and the application of all of Jesus' actions as symbolic gestures to underscore His message of the gospel of the Kingdom. It's not easy to grasp at first so I've had to listen to them twice. I'll probably listen at least once more just to let it sink in some more.

I would definitely recommend giving that series a listening to. It definitely provoked in me a new interest in studying the life of Jesus from a little different angle.

I have read some of N.T. Wright's books recently, and have heard his series, "Romans in a Week."

I may not agree with every word he says, but what I was stuck by is the fact that he is saying so many things that I have been teaching over the years, but which I had not heard taught by anyone else. I am glad to hear these distinctive things being taught by a man who has so much visibility.
