Why do they mistake rolling around and making silly noises for the "moving of the Spirit"?

Does any here feel that this kinda stuff is pretty extreme?

I will never forget the time that I went and seen a famous televangelist named Steve Hill in a town north of my area. Steve Hill was one of the men responsible for the Brownsville revival in Florida. . The sermon began with a huge appeal for...you guessed it.....money. Then the Brother gave a real good emotional message about "what is our price?...Judas sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, he was cheap, but what is your price..?" I actually enjoyed the message. Then the fireworks began. He grabbed me up and put me in charge of catching the people who fell so they would not hurt themselves on the way down. In a building with over 1000 people in it, I had my work cut out for me. So I am trotting along catching this one and that one, when all of a sudden, I stepped on this young lady's head!! I was so embarrassed. But the funny thing is, she never moved! And us southern boys love to wear our work boots to every occasion.

Then, I got behind this...urr..ahem...heavy lady who was being prayed for..I was thinking..Man I hope she don't fall....and thankfully for me (and my back), she didn't...whew, what a night.

to be blunt, I guess I am a supporter of Hank Hanegraff's view on this stuff. Its fake or ill spirited. Maybe if a few of them hit the floor hard it would knock some sense into them. :?

one of the pastors at my church described an experience when he was baptized with the spirit- he said he felt an amazing rush of joyous, ecstatic feeling to the point where he could hardly contain it. he is a conservative guy and not given to a lot of emotional display. however, he said if he did what he FELT like doing, it may have looked similar to what you see on this video.

i am no fan of kenneth copeland- and i think what we see on the video is worked-up nonsense.

however, i believe it would be a mistake to therefore poo-poo every manifestation that might accompany someone being filled with the HS.

I agree with you TK. I have had joyous moments in the Lord where I just felt like singing and jumping all over the place. But that usually happens when I am alone for some reason. And I am sorta glad of that fact, because I would not want to be looked at as a showman or something that would bring reproach to Christ' body.

It has sorta become the norm in most Assembly of God churches, and the majority of Pentecostal churches to.

The church I attend to does allow falling down as hands are land on people to to be normal. I am skeptical of it, and I think it is a monumental task to prove it in Scripture. Where are the catchers at in the Scriptures? Every now and then, the pastor at my church "feels" moved by God to run around laying hands on people and most fall. I usually don't go up for prayer, simply because usually don't fit the discription of people who are called up front and invited to be prayed for. However, a couple of weeks ago, the pastor was praying for people that were standing by their seats. When he got to be, he smacked me on the top of my head with one hand, and pushed me on my shoulder. I had to grab the chair in front of me to keep from falling down in the chairs. It kind of bothered me, but I couldnt help but bust out laughing. And the reason for doing that wasn't the kind of reasons those influenced by the holy laughter movement give. I wonder how to tell him not to be so rough next time he prays for me. Any ideas?

Push him back huh? Then they'd try to cast the devil out of me 8) Just to clarify a bit, when I mentioned "falling down in the chairs, I meant losing my balance a bit.

I got ya Bro. I have been "forced" to fall before too, but it was kinda fun because the carpet I landed on was comfy, and I needed a rest!...
