Judeo-Christian God

As far as I know, only the Bible legitimizes the belief in the Judeo-Christian God (Yahweh) over beliefs in other gods.
But in the absence of the Bible -- say the time when our ancestors still lived like the Masai's or Pygmies...there was a strong tendency for people to worship the sun, or a mountain or great animals or an unseen spirit. How can we really say that they are wrong in doing so? How can they possibly realize the wrongness of such?
In Acts 17:23 (New King James Version) "for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:", Paul sort of have equated the unknown God to the Judeo-Christian God he is preaching.
In Christ,
Richard
