The rocks would cry out!

An interesting thought about this passage:

The Pharisees asked Jesus to rebuke His disciples after the triumphal entry had occurred. Jesus responded that the "rocks would cry out." To some I'm sure this made complete sense, but to me I was stuck in literalism. I didn't put together that we are called "living stones" (Cf. 2 Peter 2:4) and that the unrepentant could be "dead stones."

I believe the triumphal entry of the Christ making His Kingdom public through fulfilled Scripture was so intense, that the Spirit would have come upon the dead stones and poured out of them if the disciples tried to remain silent.
