Thanks for the story Chris. It's encouraging and in a way discouraging. Great to hear your father got his faith back but also the way he lost it is a little scary because it reminds me what type of creatures we are in that we give so much weight to our circumstances to verify if our faith is validated. Are we all like that? Do we all need our faith validated and if we do then is it really faith?

I do think we need our faith validated, that I believe is our nature, but the term validated is what the problem is for many people. When Jesus tells us to ask, seek and knock and the door will be opened, I think he means it. It’s just we need to be wise and know when we open the door it will not be the new house we prayed for or the new car, but the gift of realization that those things are not what we “need”. The other side of the door will contain the gift of the Holy Spirit, the gift of courage to speak the word or the gift of humility and understanding.
