PC and Stewardship

"Political Correctness" that would be.

So . . . .

I just turned 58 & can remember when you could merely buy stuff -- without thinking of whether or not the company supported biblical or secular values. Till the last few years, the thought never crossed my mind (because you simply bought goods & that was it).

But, of course, these days many, if not perhaps most companies go public with their beliefs. Most notably so re: "gay marriage."

So . . . .
I'm not very politically active, though I "liked" the ACLJ on Facebook (but don't agree with all of their views, but do most). I've signed some of their petitions, etc.

So, what else have I done?
I've boycotted several PC companies including: Starbucks and Amazon.com. I recently "disliked" the Cleveland Browns due to the NFL's opposition to biblical values. I no longer plan to be a football fan.

What does this have to do with stewardship?

1) Money: I may be able to get books cheaper via Amazon, but have chosen to buy them from either my local Christian book store or on eBay, preferably from a Christian book distributor. My reasoning is: It will help fellow Christians, though it usually means a little more money out of my pocket.

2) Time & Energy: For quite some time, I've been questioning the validity of "liking" pro football. Super Bowl halftime shows are becoming downright vile! Last year's performance by "Beyonce" (who I'd never heard of till then) was laced with occult and satanic symbolism!

I work nites and am getting sleepy.

I wonder how many "Bible believing churches" have a Starbucks inside? Do they realize what they are supporting?

I've also wondered why Christian authors continue to sell thru Amazon(?). I'm not necessarily saying they are wrong to do so. But if I wrote a book, I wouldn't use them (due to conscience).

Any comments on this or related side-bars?

Thanks! :)

I just realized . . . .

Buying a cup of coffee or a book or whatever from a PC-anti-Christian company doesn't necessarily mean one "supports" that company.

In my case, I've simply decided to "un-support" them.

I also realize that if I looked up every company from whom I purchased something -- not only might it take an aionios ("forever" LOL) to do! -- but I may not be able to buy much at all!
