Who Would Have Guessed!

Post by _Homer » Sun Nov 18, 2007 1:12 am

Seems God knew what He was doing regarding the family unit:

Child Abuse

As Moses told the people, the laws he gave them were for their own good!

Excerpt from Child Abuse article:
Nonetheless, many scholars and front-line caseworkers interviewed by The Associated Press see the abusive-boyfriend syndrome as part of a broader trend that deeply worries them. They note an ever-increasing share of America's children grow up in homes without both biological parents, and say the risk of child abuse is markedly higher in the nontraditional family structures.
What about children who grow up in adoptive homes? They grow up without both biological parents --- or is this an entirely different type of "nontraditional family structure"?

Paidion,

I think whether the child is adopted or not has little significance. The important thing is that the mom and dad are both the child's parents. We have both natural and adopted grandchildren. Their parents love them, as we do, just the same.

Many good single parents do well raising their children even though at a disadvantage. The big problem is the "shack-up" in the home who does not have that love that would give up their own life for their child. And worse, in my mind, is the practice of same sex couples raising children. They need the influence of parents of opposite gender. What a horrible experiment with children's lives!

Thanks for saying this. :)

Couldn't the problem be the sinful lifestyle of the adults in the child's life instead of the lack of one or the other genders in the home?

Amen, brother! As the Dad of one adopted son and expecting a second adopted child soon, I can't imagine a deeper love than an adoptive parent has for their child. I'm surprised the bible doesn't have more to say on the subject considering the adoptive nature of Christ's love for the church.

Hi Darin,

I don't quite understand what you mean....it would seem that the bible does do this.

Eph 1:5
5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself,
NKJV

Gal 4:4-6
God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
NKJV

Rom 8:14-15
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
NKJV
