Wheat and Tares

Post by _MLH » Mon Sep 24, 2007 8:03 pm

When the bible talks about the wheat and Tares is it speaking about
the tares ( other people) who confess christianity and are not, OR
are we the wheat and tare because of our flesh/ new man nature?
thank you,

In my opinion the weeds represent all wicked people, 13:38 specifically tells us this

"The weeds are the sons of the evil one"

But I do think they especially represent those who profess Christianity since the enemy sowed weeds among the wheat (13:25)

What do you think?

I agree with the second part (se7en)

I don't know..I was talking with a man yesterday and he brought this subject up. He said since we have two natures the flesh/spirit
that the wheat and tares are us. He also said that then we will not
be unrighteously judging others among us. I hope others will comment

Well, if Jesus is the sower, (which he is according to Matt 13:37) why would he want our flesh to increase? In verse 30 it says "Let both grow together until the harvest..."

What do you think the man meant when he said that 'we will not be unrighteously judging others among us'? Do you think he meant that we will be the workers who will gather the tares for burning? It says that it will be his angels in verse 40.

I think the man you were talking to is just getting too fancy with his interpretation. This is one of the few parables that is interpreted for us, and as I said before, Jesus tells us who the weeds represent

"The weeds are the sons of the evil one"

The weeds are not the flesh, they are wicked people
