Supposing that marijuana (or any other drug) were made legal - is there a scriptural case against it's use by saints?

For me personally it is summed up in Philippians 4:
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

I would add possibly yes, including the scripture allyn quoted. I have MS and I know there are folks who have relief from pain using it. Also many cancer patients get relief from nausea from it. I would have liked my husband to be able to smoke it when he was so ill before he died from cancer and lost his hunger.
Just for recreation I am not sure. I went through some of the hippy counter culture and "know" the experiences , so I feel like I can make some what of a judgment from that. I have also seen the other side though, even among "saints" that abuse it even though using very little, an emotional crutch.
It can be like a fake Holy Spirit in my mind.

Ely, I simply know that it is what expresses best my opinion on being Christ-like. I don't do a very good job but it is my ambition to mind my own business, lead a quite life and to work with my hands, anything else, for me, leads to temptation. I don't know what extra-curricular activities Jesus joined in on but I do know from His examples that He was not self indugent. Maybe it was customary to sit around puffing on something while socializing but I can't see Jesus doing it (could be wrong though). So what I have to go on is what is recorded and that is enough to get me through any day.

I agree with everything Glow said.
Allyn, I got a chuckle from your first post (sorry) because potheads can "meditate" the day away. Sorry again. So, ahem, that might be another reason to avoid it since it cuts down productivity.

No offense taken, Michelle. I like a good joke, even if its on me. Also, I have no emotional stake in this thread.
Have a great weekend y'all.

Yeah, what Glow said. I wasn't trying to make fun of you, Allyn, but of potheads. You just sorta got in the way...
Have a great weekend yourself.
P.S. I enjoy reading at your website.
