Rae's comments about the Pearl's approach and doctrines reminded me of the local (Colorado) Christian homeschooling conference my wife and I recently attended.

We found that many speakers/leaders in the movement have much that we agree with but also some things that we disagree with. I think the tendency among those new to home education can be to assume that there is a uniformity of belief and practice among fellow Christian homeschoolers or that we must "ride the bandwagon" of certain ministries or leaders.
Neither of these are correct. We realized that there is much good information and ideas within the movement that we can use, but to approach everything with discernment, allowing the Lord to lead our decisions.

This especially relieved my wife as she thought she might have to start wearing denim jumpers

I'm probably preaching to the choir here (this forum is filled with crazy,non-conformists who often think for themselves 8) ), but for all those homeschooling or considering home education, consider this:
Home education is produced from a family's convictions
Therefore, the family should educate from their convictions and not necessarily from another's beliefs or practices.
