Does anyone know what that means? Why beside still waters?

I will give my answer after a few replies if no one has my answer.

I see it as a picture of peace. What do you think?

Peaceful waters. I do not know much about sheep or deer. But I have owned numerous dogs, when we go hiking near the streams they ignore rushing water, but go to a cove or wide part of the stream to drink because they don't like or, would rather not have the water splash them in the face while drinking. And I would think sheep and deer are much more skittish, afraid of moving water, than dogs. That would be my guess. I do not believe it is a still pond, that would be bad.

According to this source, "Sheep prefer to drink still water as opposed to water from a moving stream."

Look under the section about feeding and watering equipment.

Sorry - forgot I posted this. Yes it is that simple. Something about their nostrils makes it difficult for them to drink from a running stream.

Before Google, I was about 50 years old before anyone could explain it to me. I think I ask every preacher I ever met , and not one knew. The mystery was solved while I was visiting a Utah sheep ranch. :D
