Question for Steve: Authorship determining divine authority

Post by morbo3000 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 5:01 pm

In a thread regarding someone else's views on scriptural authority, Steve said this:

> The books written by inspired prophets and chosen apostles carry divine authority, due to their authorship
> not due to any later person's recognizing them.

How do you substantiate that? Our knowledge about the authors of these books is determined by the traditions of the church. So if their divine authority rests on their authorship, we can only determine that based on the testimony of the church, which we aren't able to test absolutely.
