In a thread regarding someone else's views on scriptural authority, Steve said this:

How do you substantiate that? Our knowledge about the authors of these books is determined by the traditions of the church. So if their divine authority rests on their authorship, we can only determine that based on the testimony of the church, which we aren't able to test absolutely.
