Revelation: One Thing(s) at a Time

Greetings to all.

I recently completed a survey of the Book of Revelation in which I logged each occurrence (using the New King James Version) of the word "things".

It was intriguing to me to find out how many times and what variety of uses the Lord has each time He states the word "things".

So please allow me to share this with everyone here...

These are download-able .doc/.pdf files.

You are intrigued; I am perplexed. Could you explain some of what you found intriguing?

Yup..

A while back I observed that the Lord would frequently put lists of things in Scripture. The Beatitudes comes to mind right now, but there are lots of other lists.

Right now I am looking for clues as to what Scripture(s) apply to current reality. What did Jesus say 2000 years ago that has to do with life - right now?

And that is juxtaposed with what I hear being spoken in the Churches (i.e. Mr. Gregg's and other's radio shows, etc.)

Would you like a teaser?

In one of the 7 Church letters in Revelation, Jesus scolds one of them for leaving their "first love". Now, I have heard explained many times this and that on what "first love" means. But, it's Jesus talking and He already established what the first love is when He walked the earth.

So here is the riddle..
He gave a list of Loves while on the earth, recorded in Scripture. Can you guess or find that list? The first one on the list I believe is the First Love He is referring to in Revelation.

Thank you for your response.

Is the first one Mark 12:30?
And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.

Hmmm. I have also wondered if that wasn't the list. And it may be.

But there is another list.

I will divulge or confirm it after I do a little more thinking about the Mark 12:30 list and allow time for more guesses.

Thanks Candlepower...

What did Jesus ever say that _doesn't_ have to do with life right now?

Yes.

And that's exactly what I want to discover in as much detail as possible.

This comes to mind specifically,
Jesus instructed His disciples in techniques of fishing to obtain better results, ("cast your nets on the other side").

I don't fish. I'm a janitor. I clean toilets and other things.

So what did Jesus say or do that has direct bearing on cleaning His facilities?

What did He say that has direct bearing on (you name it) or whatever?

You get the idea.

Mark 12:30 seems to have more to do with the Law, the fulfillment of which is Love.

John 21:15-17 identifies a list of Three Loves, and how to express these Loves...

First Love... "Feed My lambs."
"do you love Me?"
John 21:15NKJ So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs."

Second Love..."Tend My sheep."
"do you love Me?"
John 21:16NKJ He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep."

Third Love... "Feed My sheep"
"do you love Me?"
John 21:17NKJ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.
