Interesting Vid
Re: Interesting Vid
I watched it. It almost looks like asgard transporting technology, until it slow down.

He will not fail nor be discouraged till He has established justice in the earth. (Isaiah 42:4)

Re: Interesting Vid
Sorry, it was a joke. The "asgard" word is used in the SciFi TV show Stargate SG1. The asgard are an advanced race of little "grey" aliens who have a transporter device like Star Trek's transporter. When in use it kind sorta looks like what you see on the video you put up, before it slows down, that is.TK wrote:

Re: Interesting Vid
my wife asked me what the white thing shooting down and grabbing the people were and it said i thought they were angels, although not 100% sure.
just as an aside, if i understand correctly, the preterist position is that the event depicted in the video will never happen in the future, because it already happened in the past?

Re: Interesting Vid
Not exactly (as I understand it). Most "full" preterists I think would believe that there is no physical rapture at all and that what happened in the past was a spiritual reality only. The "partial" preterist (like myself) would say that much of what many people believe is to come before Christ returns has already taken place, but not the "rapture," which we believe will happen on the last day (still to come) to everyone alive at the time to be judged along the dead who are all raptured/resurrected on the same day when Christ comes (the believers being judged to everlasting life and the non-believers to destruction).TK wrote:just as an aside, if i understand correctly, the preterist position is that the event depicted in the video will never happen in the future, because it already happened in the past?
Re: Interesting Vid
Thx darin.
how then, does a full preterist deal with the Thessalonians passage where paul seems to be describing a physical rapture and being caught up in the air?

Re: Interesting Vid
That's a good question -- I'm not a full preterist, so I'm not sure, but I suspect they would spiritualize it somehow.TK wrote:Thx darin.

From what I have read, I believe some few believe a secret rapture happened, some believe the dead were rescued from Hades then so that their souls are now in heaven, and others believe it is just some spiritual reality of the church age that Christ brought in 70AD.
Re: Interesting Vid
i've tried following along in sean's discussion with Allyn, but the full preterist position is so foreign to me that it is rather overwhelming.

Re: Interesting Vid
You may get a different response from someone else, but I believe that there certainly was a rapture of the 1st century Christians. Not only do we have Scripture that points to a definite rapture but we have the exact reasoning that futurists use against it being a 1st century event in that there is no historical record of it. This is exactly how it is reasonable that it did happen.darinhouston wrote:That's a good question -- I'm not a full preterist, so I'm not sure, but I suspect they would spiritualize it somehow.TK wrote:Thx darin.
